I have a virtual image of Dynamics AX 2009.
Virtual image has demo data company, and I want to backup and restore it to other Dynaminc AX 2009 Enviroment in other domain.

I tried it...but it does't go right. I run Dynamics AX Client,The message shows

"You are not a recognized user of Microsoft Dynamics AX. Contact your system administrator for help."

I have questions...

â—‹Can company data move to different Dynamics AX Enviroment in different domain ? or can't?
â—‹Please teach me that company data migration between different domain environment, Dynamics AX.

I'm sorry my english is poor...and I started Dynamics AX Development 1 weeks ago...

    Well, the problem is not in a company data movement but rather in the DAX authentication system. Since version 4.0 DAX has a kinda Windows-indegrated authentication but yet it's implementation is not quite fluent. Historocally DAX has it's own users and for DAX Object Server (AOS) the only way to map a domain or a local Windows user to a DAX user is windows user's SID (SID is a unique identifier for a user or a group in Windows). SIDs are specific for a particular domain, i.e. domain admin accounts (or a couple of any other accounts even with the same login names) in two different domains will have different SIDs.
    So your problem is that DAX database has DAX user accounts with SIDs from the virtual machine's domain that are certainly different from a SID of an account that you use when trying to connect do DAX after restoring it's database in a different environment. To be short all you have to do is:
    • find out the SID of the user you use to run a DAX client after DB migration
      • you can use whoami tool shipped with Windows - just run whoami /user in a console and you'll see a long string like S-1-5-21-15052... next to your login;
      • if you use WinXP or an earlier Windows version you'll have to install Windows XP Support Tools to get the tool and afair it has a slightly different command line params... you'll need to use /sid option instead of /user
    • run a tool like Ms SQL Management Studio and connect to the restored DAX database
    • navigate to the UserInfo table, open it in a grid (or use a T-SQL command if you wish) and update the SID value for user "admin" with the one you've found out previously
    • start DAX client - you should login as an admin now
