You can always know, which user is making the changes to the system by enabling the Change Log Setup. Although it affects the performance at times, but you can enable the same on specific tables / fields for sometime to monitor the changes.

You can get more details at following link.

I would recommend to bind the tracking to a user, not to device (however it depends on the device). It would be difficult, if ever possible, to track simple USB RF-terminals which just read the barcodes, thus it is more plausible to track it by the user who is using it. Users who make postings are trackable in the standard fields of posting tables. As Vishal mentioned, Change Log Setup can be also useful to track writing to those tables and fields that are filled using RF terminals.

As Alexander said it would be difficult to track the barcode device in Dynamics NAV. What you can do is track the User who do the modifications to the system. This can be done using 2 methods.

    1. Activating change log

    2. Small customization to get the user ID at the time of data modification.

Above two options are workarounds and if you only want to track the barcode reader ID, you can develop a DLL file which will identify the barcode reader ID. Import the DLL to Dynamics NAV and then at the time of scanning you can call the related functions and identify the barcode reader device. If you need any help on developing the DLL just let us know.

Thank you for your valuable time, i think Change Log setup functionality works.
