Managed Solution - Optionset and Mappings not moving

Hi

When we are moving a managed solution to the test environment, the option set values are not moving (there was a change in the options) (Objecttypecode in queue item). Similary some of the relationship variables are also not moving (relationship is migrated but not some of the updated mappings)

There is no dependencies and errors thrown in the import.

Could you guys please advise

Thanks

Mohan

RE: Managed Solution - Optionset and Mappings not moving

    Hi Mohan,

Did you get a solution to this? I have got the same problem using ALM to release to staging and then live. I believe the problem is that the removal of mappings is not showing a deletion in the managed solution, so when the solution gets deployed it cannot delete the mapping. It is very messy to have to delete the mapping in the target environment.

    Thanks

    Adrian

RE: Managed Solution - Optionset and Mappings not moving

    Hello Mohan,

Can you please validate the solution layers of the components where the changes are not being reflected?

What is the layer on top? The solution that you just imported or is another one?

Please note that if the layer on top is different than the one that you imported, only that solution that is on top or a new solution will be able to update the component.

Here is an example how the layers are applied:

    • On target we import solution A with option set A with options A, B and C
    • Then we imported a new solution B with option set A with options A, B changed to D and C changed to E
    • At this point the options of the option set are A, D and E
    • Later we imported again solution A where this time the option set A has the following options, A changed to F, D and E
    • At this point the options of the option set remained as A, D and E as the layer on top is solution B and not solution A
    • If we import solution B instead of solution A the options will be updated as expected

Please refer to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/alm/solution-layers-alm#layering-within-a-managed-solution to review layering withing a managed solution.

How to check solution layer for a components:

    • Go to Advanced Settings - Customizations - Customize the System
    • Expand Entities - Your entity - Fields
    • Select your option set field - Click More Actions - Solution Layers:

    • The same steps can be applied for relationships. We just need to go to the 1:N, or N:1 or N:N relationships.

    Hope this helps.
