Optical character recognition (OCR) feature in Ax 7

Hi Expert,

I have requirement that I will get Supplier/Vendor invoices, convert them into soft copy by scanning them.

Does Microsoft Dynamic Ax 7 has Optical character recognition (OCR) feature? If yes, please explain how to enable, steps and process to use OCR in Ax7.

If not, what is alternative approach and how.

Kindly share you thoughts and suggestions.

    Hi Dayakar,

    Microsoft Dynamics itself has no recognition feature. scanning software like Lexmark (formerly Readsoft) is able to do the recognition. Then in addition you would need to develop import features to get the recognized data into AX.

    There are also ISV solutions for invoice automation which could import the files from OCR software and also have additional features around the invoice processes. One example is Exflow from Signup Software. I'm mentioning this company as they only focus as ISV on the invoice automation processes and they customer satisfaction is very high. But there are more vendors offering import and processing for incoming invoices.

    You're by no mean limited to features native to Dynamics AX. You should rather ask if there is an on-line service or a .NET library for OCR. Then you can merely call it from Dynamics AX.
