Urgent: user specific print settings

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 350

Dear Community!

We have differetn location in our company where we print documents.

For example User A is in building X and has a Epson printer with some paper slots with different paper quality.

The user B is in other Building and has other printer HP with otehr drivers etc.

The question is how to solve this situation? User specific settings? We only know about Modul / Account (e.g. Customer) / Transaction (e.g. Sales Invoice) levels where you can define print settings?

Thank You very much in advance!

Now when any user print a report from AX i think there is always a print setting before printing and i think when set it fot the first time it will remain the same for the user . . . . as far as i know there is no user specific print setting.

    Regards,

    Waldemar,

You can use the "Print management" to define the print destination for different documents, for example, AP->Setup->Parameters->Form->Form setup->print management, to define the print for purchasing documents.

    Thank you so far!

TO use AP->Setup->Parameters->Form->Form setup->print management is a good way, but we have some users who print e.g. sales invoices but need to use diferent printers. So they forget to choose other printer evey time.

Yes, we found out as  Yousef Shawareb said, that after first time user chooses other printer, next time (in same form?) there should be the same. This is how we would expect it too. But some printer driver specific settings go lost. For example choosen paper slots.

Is there some places I have to look on?

    Thank You again!

    Hi,

You can setup different printer for original or copy, e.g. sales invoice, you can setup print original to build A, and print copy to build B.

Of course, your users must remember to select where they want to print.

    Best regards,

Ok guys, thank you for help.

    It was a user problem.

Anyway, AX only remembers user specific printer settings only for alst selected printer.

For example 1. you print Invoice with Printer A HP and selects settings provided by driver (watermark etc.) 2. then you print another invoice with Printer B Epson and set other settings. Now if you 3. print another invoice again with Printer A HP, setting are standard settings from OS/Driver.

Do you notice the same behaviour?

Has anyone had the circumstance where you are using the <default> in print management with quantity set to 1, but a user wants to print 4 copies of same report.  Example when posting the packing slip.  AX ignores the users print dialog of 4 and only prints the print management qty of 1 but to the correct printer from the user's print dialog.  This seems like there is no way for the user to override the quantity and you cannot make the custom queries user-specific so how can you make the user happy?

The print management settings only will be looked up if the print destination is not <standard>. So you should go for either print or screen.

I did customize the print destination setting based on different sites. So user can print out the report to different printers based on the different sites.

How did you go about doing that?
