Client access to AOS

Hi,

Current situation:

Company X which was acquired from Company Y is in the middle of an AX  roll out. However, company X will still receive IT services from Company Y during a transition period. This means that the users of the new Company X would use the computers and network owned by company Y to access AX under the transition period. AOS would run on a server outside of the Company Y network.

In order to access the AX server Company Y would be reluctant to opening up their corporate network.

Alternatives known to me which I would appreciate some elaboration on:

ACCESS OPTIONS:

Internet connection is needed, via Company Y network, or via a mobile solution for any kind of AX access.

Access to AOS should be done via VPN connection. If Company X would be allowed to use Company Y network, a firewall must probably be configured when sometime ports connecting to VPN services is blocked.

  • AX client, connects direct to AOS.
  • Remote desktop, user log in to their virtual desktop and uses AX client to access AOS

Question:

1. What would the bare minimum requirements in order for the users in Company X to easily access AOS on the outside server?

2. How could VPN authentication be simplified? I would like the user to be authenticated the moment he logs in to his computer. Is this possible? How?

Thank you!

BR,

Erik

I don't know if it is me, but something simple sounds complicated.

    - Company X which was acquired from Company Y

    - Company X would use the computers and network owned by company Y to access AX

    - AOS would run on a server outside of the Company Y network.

Where is the AOS located ? (and all other servers such as SQL and EP...).

    Hi Ritzell,

I am not sure I get the problem right. Let say I suggest the following:

Have a terminal server locate in the same network as the AOS, then users will remote to the terminal server to access AX, regardless which computer they are using or which network they are in.

    Would this work?

both x and y have to come under one AD or can have AD hand shake and then have cross domain in AX.

1.Configure "two way" trust between domain X and domain Y

    2. From AX user form, select other domain  and import the users.

3.If required, add host entry of the Respective AX Servers

    Hope this will Help.
