Dear Experts,
I just came to know that Dynamic Portals are being replaced by Power App Portal and the license bits are changing but quite concerning in our scenario for 5000 anonymous and 200+ authenticated users. In our requirement, we will expose the dynamic portal to outside world to visit the website anonymously as well as sign in users;
It will be used for: Enquiry forms, blogs, forums, videos, scheduling and other, and allow authenticated users to login to member area. The new licence scheme as I am reading, will become very expensive for us. I need to know couple of things about it in terms of licensing.
1. Dynamic 365 CE comes up with one default portal, which we are using. Is one portal still free and for users to use anonymously and authenticated users?. What license implication we now have before, for them? It was free before for anonymous. There is literally no point of charging a portal based on customer visits.
2. What alternative now I have, Microsoft Teams or Sharepoint or .Net custom website to build such a portal and connect to dynamic 365?
Kind regards,
Hi,
Under the new licensing model, there is no longer a free "default" Portal. Organizations currently in an agreement are able to continue with their current licensing model, but once that expires, they will be expected to move to the new licensing model, which in the case you've described will involve purchasing both external logins and anonymous page views.
In terms of alternatives, there are other ISVs that build Portal products, like Portal Connector, AlexaCRM and Webcurl, just to name a few. You can also build your own .NET custom web portal using the APIs. One thing to keep in mind is that when using 3rd party products, or building it yourself, there API limits and licensing that you need to be aware of. Power Apps Portals does include some API calls as part of the licensing.
Hope that helps.
