Slow Importing of Data using Data Management

Hi, I am currently working with Data Management in AX 7 (version 7.0.4127). The export function works fast but the import is horribly slow, considering I'm only trying to import 400 records using the Customers entity. Importing only 1 - 20 records is bearable, but the problem is I still have 50000 records that I need to import.

The question is, is there any other methods I could use instead of the Import function in Data Management? I have searched and tried Batch Import but I can't seem to understand it well since the my batch jobs in queue won't run. Please help. Thank you.

    Hi Harvey,

Are you using a customer environment on Azure, A test/demo machine on Azure or locally hosted?

What source type did you use? If the batch jobs aren't running, did you check if the AX Batch service is running on the AX VM? Can you tell about the behavior with 400 records? What times did you measure?

    Hi Andre,

I am using a test machine on Azure. The AX Batch service is not running, an error pops up when I try to run it. It says:

"The Microsoft Dynamics AX Batch Management Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

Actually, I have noticed that every time I get disconnected and refreshed the AX 7 portal in IE, the data import stops. I have been watching the Customer form as it gets populated and then when an error pops up that says that I got disconnected, the customer form stops updating. The job for import still says its 'executing', though.

If you don't have batch processing running, no wonder that many things don't work.

What messages are logged in event logs when you unsuccessfully try to start the batch service?

    Hi Harvey,

Like Martin said, please check the event logs for Microsoft > Dynamics AX.

Can you indicate if this environment is original or if there are customizations or other changes applied?

Interesting... It looks very similar to the one I posted November last year: community.dynamics.com/.../speed-up-data-import-with-data-entity-execution-parameters
