I just completed a fresh MR CU 16 installation and when I go to fire up Designer I get the ever popular message "cannot find server" I am running designer on the server so it cannot be a firewall issue. When I check the event this is what I see. Any clue how to correct this?

Did you enable the port 4712 while installation, if not than disable firewall and try again
Also check domain server time and date , difference must not be more than 4 minutes
It was resolution 9 in this KB. I had never heard of Server Principal Names until yesterday.

Hi Richard,
I always install MR with a domain user for the server side services setup.. and never had to use the 'setspn' command to make it work.. did you miss some steps from the requirements ? Was this a brand new setup with no pre-existing MR databases ? who's the owner of the MR database on the server side ? kind of weird what you had run into...
Beat, this was just another installation like I have done hundreds of times before. This may have been my first installation of MR on a W2019 server with SQL 2019. Microsoft always seems to find new monkey wrenches into everything.
Thank you Richard for the details..
I haven't come across a lot of W2019 & SQL 2019 setups yet.. so can't speak for possible problems on that. I recently had to complete a customer upgrade on W2019 & SQL 2019, but I wasn't doing the MR part and don't know if they ran into any issues..
PS: I'm going to setup a W2019&SQL2019 VM on Azure and try to setup MR2012 CU16 on there..
