Quantity Precision up to 4 decimals

Hello,

I want to break down the quantity up to 4 decimal points on purchase order.

The system only allows to break the quantity up to 2 decimal points.

I just want to know that whether there will be any different financial impact of transaction with quantity breaking up to 4 decimal points or it will remain the same as with 2 decimal points.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello Aizaz,

Why do you need 4 decimal points?

If it is not required by law in your country then I would recommend not doing that because there are repercussions.

People asked already a couple of times about similar things on this forum.

Just search and have a look at those earlier threads to get an impression what obstacles you might experience doing that.

My recommendation would be not doing it unless you are forced to e.g. by legislation.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hello Ludwig,

    Thanks for your help.

My organization need 4 decimal points to get an accurate and precise unit amount against item selected in purchase order. I know that it is not recommended by the professionals but still i would like to know a brief overview of how it will effect the GL entry.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hello Aizaz,

I want to challenge the last statement :-)

Is it really that you need an adjustment or can't you simply change the way how you define prices / costs?

As an example, rather than recording a price of 0.3334 for 1 pcs of an item you could specify a price of 333.4 per 1000 pcs of that item.

This already removes a part of the issues that you might run into when it comes to rounding of values.

Wouldn't that be a 'standard' alternative compared to making a system adjustment?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
