Using the organization hierarchy purpose "Project management"

When will one want to use the purpose "Project management" for an organization hierarchy ?

Seems such hierarchy can be linked to legal entities and business units.

But how to link this for projects and project contracts - and their transactions ?

Any practical examples ?

    Hi Daxer,

    There is a selection field on the All project list page called 'Show projects in legal entity'.

    The lookup is standard showing a list of legal entities. You can do a multi select to view projects from one or more legal entities.

    If you create an organization hierarchy with purpose Projects, the lookup view is changed to view the legal entities in a hierarchy. This could be easier to select groups of legal entities to show the projects.

    Is there any purpose then to use the Business Units? I was hoping this could limit the projects the user was presented with on the list page depending on their business unit defined on the employee record. Thanks!

    Sorry, but don't know yet how to apply the Business unit for "Project management".

    Meanwhile I think you need to make datafilter based on "extensible data security setup" or "record level security".

    But yes, could be nice to hear from some actually being able to use the Business unit for this purpose.
