Visual studio 2013 config/layer issue

Has anybody successfully changed the layer in the application explorer in visual studio 2013? I'm on AX R3 cu8 and VS2013 update 4.

Mine is stuck on "Default (usr)" even though my local client config is set to cus layer. I've also tried using the /AxConfig switch and pointing VS to a local CUS config (tried both a file and a local config's name). Tried via the command prompt and a shortcut to devenv.exe and I got nothing.

This is ridiculously annoying. Tell me its not just me?

    Hi Kyle,

    Below are the steps.

    1. On the client computer that is running Visual Studio, open the Start menu, right-click Visual Studio 2010, and select Properties.

    2. Update the Target field and add the /AxConfig switch with either the name of the client configuration or the name of the client configuration file as shown in the following examples:

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /AxConfig ContosoDev

    or

    "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe" /AxConfig z:\Config\ContosoDev.axc

I've done that and it is still pointing to the usr layer. I'm just looking for a confirmation that its working for someone else in VS2013

have you tried switching your default config in control panel > admin tools > ax client config?

Yep. Both the regular client and business connector local configs are set to a custom one which is set to the CUS layer.

If I open AX from the ax32.exe it goes to the CUS layer, and I double checked that my config file I tried is also going to the CUS layer.

    Hi,

just for information - does not have exact your situation but -

I'm using VS2013withUpd5 and some PostR3CU9 binaries (don't know exactly but something after CU9) and this seems to work like a charme (at least on a 64bit OS, 32bit tools can only be installed starting with CU10), but never tested CUS only VAR and USP.

One Question : Did you directly start with CU8 (or did you have some R3RTM (or R2) 'things' on your machine?

Did you deinstall the old VS2010 tools?

I remember some problems during installation. And the solution was always, deinstall the client things and reinstall from a slipstreamed dvd. Beside you already did the direct way.

Do you have EXACTLY the CU8 kernel (the one from the package)?

Maybe I can check this next week, somewhere having this constellation (but with Vs2013Upd5). So let's see.

Did you (just for fun) checked USP layer?

    regards

    Douglas
