Hi!

I work in the food industry and when we resident a shipment of lets say 66pll witj 2080pc a pallet i have to create each individual LP in mobile and I think this is really ineffective a d time consuming, I've brought this up several Times with both ERP and superusers and they say it can't be implemented.

I've worked with several warehouse programs and I've never heard of this before. By searching this form I've found that it is possible but I can't find where I can change this. I have full accsess in AX and mobile.

Can someone show me a step by step where to set this up so I can show my boss how we can save hours per day implementing this.

Thx in adcance!

    Several LP's for one item

Here’s a guide to help you navigate setting up license plates (LPs) in Microsoft Dynamics AX or a similar warehouse management system (WMS), which can significantly streamline your process and save time:
You currently need to manually create individual LPs for shipments of multiple pallets (e.g., 66 pallets with 2080 pieces each). This is time-consuming and inefficient, especially since you've worked with other systems that can automate LP creation.

Steps to Automate LP Creation in Dynamics AX:

    1. Check License Plate Configuration:

      • Navigate to Warehouse Management > Setup > Parameters.
      • Ensure the License Plate Tracking option is enabled for the warehouse you’re working in.
    2. Set Up a License Plate Number Sequence:

      • Go to Organization Administration > Number Sequences > Number Sequences.
      • Find or create a number sequence specifically for license plates (e.g., "LP-####").
      • Assign this number sequence to the warehouse where the shipment is received:
        • Navigate to Warehouse Management > Setup > Warehouse > Warehouses.
        • Select the relevant warehouse and assign the LP number sequence.
    3. Configure Mobile Device Menus:

      • Go to Warehouse Management > Setup > Mobile Device > Mobile Device Menu Items.
      • Locate or create a menu item for Inbound Processes (e.g., "Receive Shipment").
      • Enable the Automatic License Plate Creation option for this menu item.
        • This ensures the system automatically generates LPs during the receiving process.
    4. Set Up Work Templates:

      • Navigate to Warehouse Management > Setup > Work > Work Templates.
      • For the Purchase Order Receiving or relevant process, configure the template to use LP tracking.
      • Add LP tracking as a required step in the receiving process.
    5. Define Location Profiles:

      • Go to Warehouse Management > Setup > Locations > Location Profiles.
      • Verify that the locations receiving the goods are set to use LP tracking.
      • Check the License Plate Mandatory field for the location profile to ensure compliance.
    6. Test the Process:

      • Use your mobile device to perform a test receipt for a shipment.
      • The system should now automatically create LPs for the incoming pallets, eliminating manual entry.
    7. Communicate to Your Boss:

      • Prepare a demonstration of how the process works now with the automated LP creation.
      • Highlight the time savings and reduced errors compared to manual entry.

RE: Several LP's for one item

    Hi.

    To give a short answer:

It's possible by many ways, you could setup the 'Unit sequence groups' to group by LP and do it automatically or you could work with 'Packing Structure' to enter all the information of the receipt, preview you received in the warehouse, this can work with .XML (commonly used with EDI) or manually.

The best you can do it's to review all the docs I'll share or worst case scenario contact a partner and ask for guidance.

    * Unit sequence group

    pastedimage1645233080831v1.png

    Using your example 1 ppl = 32ea

    Having a PO for 66ppl

When receiving, in mobile device you can receive all the pallets and it will create a LP every 32ea

    * Packing structure

You have to create a Load for the PO

In the Load planning workbench you could access: Ship and receive > Receive > Packing structure

In here you can create add items to cases and cases to pallets, or directly items to pallets
