 Hi,

In Ax production order> journal> job card, i am able to record the actual production time & qty for the operation by machine.

However, there is no place for me to record the machine downtime.

Does anyone know is there any solution or workaround?

kindly advice. Thanks.

Regards,

kongyu

    Hi,

Well...  depending on what type of reporting you wanted to do on the downtime, wouldn't you just subtract off the difference?  Say if you wanted to report on downtime for a day and your actual production time was 14 hours.  24-14 = 10 hours of downtime.

Or I have the feeling you need this automated somehow?....

     Hi,

I do not need it to be automated but  in Ax there is not place for me to enter the machine downtime by machine.

Let say my  production time is from 9am to 5pm, but machine down at 11am -11.30am and 2.15 to 2.30pm due to different reason code, Ax do not have any screen for me to enter the downtime. Do you have any idea how to work on this?

    Thanks.

We have created a "downtime" item and a production order associated with downtime to caputre the downtime.  When an operation is down the downtime production order is entered.  This may not be preferable method, but we also use the property field as a reason code.  Creating the downtime production order has made our BI much stronger.

How about handling it, creating an Indirect activity = Machine Downtime ??

Shop Floor handles this through indirect jobs that workers log in to when not working on a production job.  If you don't use shop floor, I have done what Shaun Mc proposed in creating a "Downtime" item where the Units are each 1 hour of production time, so you can use it to schedule planned downtime and also post against it for unplanned.
