[AX 2012 R3] Pick Suggestion Quantity In a Box Multiply Quantity

Hi, how do we set pick suggestion quantity? For example, my item A has inventory unit in PCS but packaged in a box.  Let's say 1 box = 10 PCS. My work order has 200 PCS to be picked. I have 2 locations. First location has 134 PCS and the second location has 123 PCS. How do we set so AX suggest to pick from first location only 130 PCS and 70 PCS from the second location?

Thanks

Well, I am not sure I am answering exactly what you are asking, so maybe clarify what it is exactly you mean with "pick suggestions".

For your specific example, I can give the following suggestion:

Set up the location directive so that:

    - it has 1st location directive line, with Restrict by unit = true, Restrict Unit = Box, Allow split = true

    - it has 2nd location directive line, with Allow split = true and no other restrictions

The location directive actions for both would be the same.

This way, in your example, the work created would have 2 Pick lines:

    - 1st line for 13 Box from location 1

    - 2nd line for 7 Box from location 2

(meaning we would always favor picking "full boxes" before pcs)

You could then also restrict the To quantity on the location directive lines, not to allow picking more than a certain number of boxes from a location, if necessary.

Is that what you are looking for?

I don't think this is standard feature where you can have this done automatically

You need to consider some kind of customization

Please verify and let us know if you need any technical support how to do it

Hi Ivan. You're correct, that's what I mean. However I fail to get expected result. In my case, AX still pick not in a box multiply quantity. Do I miss something?

Hi Nitesh, thanks for your response. However, I'm picking using AX WMS R3. Is it possible to use picking list registration altogether with AX WMS R3?

as per my understanding Yes, if you see the link which I posted earlier is valid for

    Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3

Well, you have a few things wrong :)

    1. The unit of measure sequence group you showed on the item is Pcs. I assume it only has the 1 line for UOM = Pcs.

It should have multiple lines, in order of increasing size, with License plate grouping flag set the way you want to store them.

For example, in the quick example I tried on my environment, I created a new unit of measure sequence group EaBox

    2. The location directive line should have the restriction unit specified through the "restrict by unit" button above the grid, not on the line itself (that surves a different purpose). In my case, here's how it looked.

    3. Note that in your 2nd line actions, you have ones for batch-tracked items. I assume you'd need the same for the 1st line actions as well in addition to the one line you added.

    4. Also, you have not shown it, but make sure there is in fact a unit of measure conversion that exists between Pcs and COLLY whatever that is.

As for using Nitesh's suggestion about the legacy picking process. It is in fact possible, but they you of course lose all the capabilities of the new Warehouse solution, like the location directives, etc.

Like Ivan stated, you can't use the new WMS R3 together with the legacy WMS. Microsoft stated that you should choose or the older or the new WMS. They are both supported in R3, but not together.

Have a look at the blog from Kurt Hatlevik with all details: https://kurthatlevik.wordpress.com/2014/05/15/ax-2012-r3-do-not-enable-wms-ii-and-the-new-warehouse-and-transportation-management-in-the-same-installation/

Just to clarify a bit not to confuse people

You can and are more than welcome to use WMS R3 with the legacy WMS. Just not WMS 2.
