Increasing characters limit for item description in business central

Is there a way to increase characters limit of item description while adding item in business central?

    No, there is no way except creating a new field in Business Central SaaS.

    you can't increase the number of characters for a standard field.

    but you can create a new specific field for your business requirement.

    You cannot change base field length, it is also not recommended as "Description" field will flow to other table such as open document , posted document and ledger entry.

    It is better to create additional custom field for it.

    Hope this helps as well - in addition to the description field, there is a description 2 field that you can use as well. This way anything that doesn't fit in the description field can be added in there. You can also look into using Extended Text for each item.
