Unable to install SSRS on AX 2012 R2

ReportReport

Hi, I set up a separate box for where I installed SQL report server with SQL 2012 "SSRSBox".  the AX database in another box ("AXDB") and AOS is installed on another box ("APP").  From APP box, I am able to connect to AXDB using AX Client. I am able to see my data and run transactions.

In SSRSBox, i configured the report server to point to AXDB. I am able to see the reportmanager url and reports URL. The AOS instance name is called "AOSAPP"

I tried to install AX reporting extensions in the SSRSbox, I got an error message - Note: I also installed SMO and CLR packages.

"An error occurred during setup of Reporting Services extensions.

Reason: The AOS server name or instance name is not correctly configured"

any idea what it could be.  My AX client shows the data and its working fine. Many thanks for your help.

    Hi,

From my experince with Ax 2009, I could install AX Reporting Extensions and Reporting  Tools only on the server where the SQL DB is present.

Inshort the SSRSBox and AXDB should be the same, in my case. Hope this helps.

    Hi Eric,

It seems as if the AOS server name or instance name is not correctly configured. Check if the AOS is configured properly and if the User Access rights are assigned.

    Hope this helps,

    Shantanoo

Have you verified the firewall for booth servers?

Can you install AX client in SSRSBOX and access the AX server?

I spoke with Microsoft regarding this issue and yes it was related to firewall. Once I disabled, it deployed fine.
