Ax 2009 Counting Journal Costs

Hi All,

We are using Ax 2009 and we are on Standard Cost.

1) When I create Count Journal Lines by using "Create On Hand" function, cost price column does not populate with Standard Cost of the item.

2) If my counted quantity is less than quantity on hand, the form updates cost column and shows correct standard cost for that line. When I post the journal, correct costs are posted.

3) If my counted quantity is more than quantity on hand, the form does not update cost for that line (shows zero in cost amount column). However when I post the journal, correct costs are posted.

On the other hand if I manually enter these lines, correct costs get populated in the cost column. And the form shows correct costs regardless of the counted quantity.

Can you please help me in understanding why the form does not show standard costs (if counted quantity is more than quantity on hand) when I create journal lines by using "Create On Hand" function.

Please let me know if you need additional info.

Thanks

    Hi Rangi,

This is the behavior of entering inventory journal lines. There are more costing methods for items in AX. When there is a deduction, AX will use the cost as known (standard or average). When there is an increase for standard cost the field cost price on the journal will be ignored and it will be taken from the cost price settings for this item. For other methods you have to enter a correct cost price.
