Hi DAXer,

good day

I am unable to start the AOS Service on test environment after restore the backup from live, receiving the below message:

I have searched the reason and solution, but could not find the proper solution.

can you support me fixing this?

Hi there,

It looks like you forgot to show what the event log is showing. something like this happening after a restore is usually caused by the AOS service account not having permission to access the restored database, or the database has been restored under a different name.

The Application event log will show more information.

Hello Ahmed,

Issue is the AOS is looking for the Test AOS Service account to start the services, check the event log for details.

Do you have the Backup of the TEST environment ?

If yes, Restore it, Export the number of tables from this blog msdynamicsaxtips.blogspot.in/.../list-of-table-in-ax-2012-should-be.html

and restore Live Backup and now import this tables back, and then check if you can start the services.

Else shortcut can be remove the Live AOS Server account and update with the TEST AOS account with correct SID.

Or Add the Live services accont in TEST DB as owner.

Please list the steps on what did you exactly do, and also provide a list of error messages from your Event Log.

I suspect you have missed one or more of the below steps when cloning an environment, that you should have done:

Take a backup of Microsoft SQL Server security roles and security grants on the AX, AX_model, AX_baseline databases in your Test instance

Restore the backup of Production with overwriting Test DBs

Run the script to provide the same security access and grants for the Test AOS accounts taken in the first step for the newly restored DBs (since likely or as a best practice Test and Production accounts should be different), in order to allow access for the correct service users to start up the AX AOS instance

Remove the GUID value for the cloned environment in the database to avoid user cache conflicts between the environments http://daxmusings.codecrib.com/2013/01/fixing-code-caching-on-ax-environment.html

Make sure that the service account set for your AX AOS service has the proper access to the databases if you forgot to transfer the security credentials between the databases in step 1

It was happened because one of datauploader has updated the server configuration and forgot to return it back to the correct configuration or forgot to till me that he did so ;(
