Hello team,

I would like to request for your assistance please.

I have tried to update Fixed asset journals using Excel add-in, however, it doesn't seem to generate Financial dimensions set as default in my books.

Repro steps on USMF:

1. Go to Fixed Assets>Fixed assets>Fixed assets, then choose BUIL-000002 in USMF

2. Go to Books and set up Financial dimensions for 200_SLLR

3. Go to Fixed asets>Journal entries>Fixed assets journal and create a new Journal then go to Lines.

4. Input information for that new lines as below then click onto Financial dimensions>Account

5. Financial dimensions have been automatically generated

6. Export fixed journal asset to Excel add-in
7. Add a new line and Publish
8. Refresh Fixed asset journal to see the newly created line
9. Check Financial dimensions>Account for that line and see that all fields are blank

10. I have follow the below blog post to add Financial dimensions:
However those will be the dimensions via the Account.* and OffsetAccount.* fields, however, what I am looking for are DefaultDimension.* and OffsetDefaultDimensions.* fields.
Any advise on how to display those on Excel add in please?
Thank you

    Hi Lolly Dinh,

Do you have some issues using LedgerDimension fields (with account) in Excel? Information is converted in an entity to both fields (LedgerDimension and DefaultDimension) when data is pushed to D365. So I don't think you need to worry about it.

    Hello Sergei,

After adding the financial dimensions in Visual studio, they will appear as below in my Excel

After I manually added the values in as below and Publish:

After I publish, all values which I input before will disappear and the newly created fixed asset journal lines' financial dimensions will all be blank

    Hi,

What do you add in the new line in step 7 especially in the findim fields?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Hello Ludwig, findim fields are not available in Excel add-in.

What I mean was I added a new line in Excel add-in

    pastedimage1597910081527v1.png

And there are no findim fields in excel add-in, which is why I am asking how we can add them into Excel add-in.

    Thank you

    Hi Lolly Dinh,

It looks like a bug. It's the only entity from 3 available for asset journal lines is missing data source for default dimension. For example AssetJournalV2Entiy contains separate data source DefaultDimensionSetEntity and 2 additional fields (DefaultDimension and DefaultDimensionDisplayValue).

You can try to check with MS if it's a bug or by design. Or you can try to add data source and fields (or copy from AssetJournalV2Entiy entity) for DefaultDimension and check it helps.

    Hi Lolly Dinh,

I would agree with Sergei.  This has the look & feel of a bug.

I would suggest opening up a Microsoft service request case and including those exact repro steps you included in your original post.

Then post the case # in this thread.

At that point I'll work on logging the bug with the Microsoft developers and seek to have them fix this.

    Thanks so much.

    Hi Brandon,

I believed bug was raised but no fix will be provided:

    Hi Lolly Dinh,

    Many thanks for the update.

As you seem to post acquisitions, would it be an option for you to make use of the acquisition proposal functionality that is available under FA/journal entries/create acquisition proposal?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks much for tracking down that existing issue.  You are correct, it appears the developers have decided against fixing this (at least at the time of that issue submission;  which was in middle of 2017).

Here's a backup route to express your desire / need for this to be fixed:

    • Put a “Product Suggestion” out on the Ideas Portal.
      • Which can be found here:

    Hello Brandon,

Thank you for the suggestion, I already input an idea last week: experience.dynamics.com/.../

    Thank you,.
