As per the discussions I had with Microsoft Alliance's & Business Development - Europe division (within Partner B) and the Team from Microsoft, they suggest with the below recommended options:
1. Change of partner at BREP licensing
Today Customer AAA has bought these licenses through Partner A as a partner. It’s not possible to “transfer” theses licenses to EA/EAS. Customer AAA can choose to change the partner from Partner A to Partner B. The process is to download the partner change form from Partner source, and fill it out.
Please note Partner B is not registered as Dynamics license re seller in Denmark, but several other places in the world, so you need to involve some of your colleagues in XXXX location or elsewhere.
2. Change the licensing from BREP to EA/EAS
If Customer AAA would like these licenses to be a part of EA/EAS framework we need to book a meeting, and have a dialogue, and this is not a traditional transfer of licenses. Please note Customer AAA will have an extra cost with this transition of licenses to the EA/EAS as BREP is a total different framework – BREP is a Dynamics re-seller program.
This is not completed yet, we have only proposed to Customer with above options, Customer had to decide which option to go with?
I will post updates how Microsoft proceeded in this case, along with the Customer expectations either with first or second option.
Hi Girishcrazy,
If the license name is of the partner and not on name of the customer, then the license is wrong. A customer license does not have an expiry date. It should always have the name of the customer. I assume you are referring to the AX license itself. Licenses for ISV products can have an expiration date. I do hope you have the correct license as well.
The best option is contact Microsoft for the options and a solution.
Regarding the license transfer of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 from previous Partner (Partner A) to the (we being the Partner B), we had discussions with (Partner A), Company C (company which manages all the licenses and agreements for Customer AAA) and found out the below details: -
1. Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 Product Licenses are bought through a Microsoft Gold Partner.
2. (Partner A) purchased the product license for "Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012" application for Customer AAA.
3. Company C informed us that the licenses cannot be moved from (Partner A) to Company C, as they have been bought at program “BREP”, which only ERP supplier that deliver on. Cusomer AAA own this licenses.
4. Company C provided us with the Microsoft’s Solution Sales Professional contact to get licenses on the new licensing form “Dyn365” for Customer AAA to hold license at the EA, EAS or SCE agreement at Company C.
*** Small Observation in the prod environment - In the AX 2012 R2 application @ License information form, the license holder name was (Partner A) and expiration date is up to ‘12/31/2030’.
Now, I am looking for the help on gathering understanding of “BREP” agreement (Denmark region) and to accentuate the finest way of managing the holding of licenses at EA, EAS or SCE agreements at Company C during the transition from (Partner A) to the (Partner B).
All together, we need to propose the possible and applicable options to Customer AAA for the licensing transfer of 'Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2' from previous partner to (Partner B) for Customer AAA.
