Australian VAT Reports

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

HI,

We have an AX2012 legal entity and wish to set up the GST so it behaves according to Australian fiscal rules.

Currently we are bringing VAT into the TAX report when we receive or generate supplier or customer invoices but I believe the Australian rules require the report to contain only transactions that have been paid or settled.

Besides normal VAT codes and VAT groups, is there anything else we need to set up to ensure this functionality ?

thanks,

    Hello Michael H,

If you have not setup Australian GST before and provided that you are not absolutely sure what to setup and how, I would recommend that you get a local Australian AX & tax expert involved who can help you with the setup.

This might of course cost you some money. Yet, investing this money costs you probably less compared to the trouble & fines that you might have to pay that result a wrong or incomplete setup and report.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

    Thank you.

I was assuming the Australian localization would take into account the Australian fiscal rules, I thought that was whole point of the localisation to be honest so we did not have to implement them.

On the GL parameters for VAT there is a "Conditional VAT" setting that says "Handling of VAT not to be reported before the invoice is settled" which sound promising but des not seem to affect the report.

    Hello Michael H,

To my knowledge you do not need to make a system modification to implement Australian legal requirements. Yet, the issue is that you have to know how to do the setup. If you have no idea, it's a bad idea trying to do it on your own as the cost to fix a poor setup are much higher than the cost that you require for doing it right from the beginning.

Please note that you can find some localization documents for Australia on the customer/partnersource website. Those documents give you a first glimpse of what is required for the local setup.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks for your replies but I was looking for some specific help.

I understand the suggestion to use a consultant, but we have setup circa 10 localisations with AX applying the correct rules.

It is a question specifically about the Australian setup as our VAT is coming onto report when it should not, and I cannot see any user parameters that control this.

    Hi Michael H,

On customer source you can find country-specific setup documents for Australia.

The document is for AX2009 but should still fit for later versions.

The download link is this one here (requires log in to Customer Source)

    Beste regards,

    Hello Michael H,

Can you try downloading the files again.

It seems that the website was down yesterday but at this moment it works again.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig

Thanks for posting the link. however after login to MPS, the file does not download and it seems MS has moved the location. I will appreciate if you can share the document if you got one.

    Thanks

    Shashikant
