customer type codes have been changed

We have a customer that noticed that the customer type codes for their accounts have changed somehow. In the audit logs we do not find any edits on these accounts.
However, if we look at the codes and labels for this choice column , they differ from the documentation... We have not changed these codes (though custom codes have been added at the end), so we wonder if some kind of Microsoft update has changed these codes?!? If this is the case, then we are left with a completely unusable system if MS changes this randomly...
For example, all accounts that were 'Reseller' before, now appear as 'Prospect' (though the code remains 9). Also in some predefined views on the accounts table, where we filter on 'type = reseller', the filter now shows type = prospect'...
also note that an additional option 'insurance carrier' is inserted inbetween somehow

    Hi all,
I have had an answer from Microsoft support and they found that the change came from a solution that we imported. However, we are absolutely certain that we did not intentionally changed this option set. As you see, another user here (Leah Ju) has the same options (different than those in the documentation) so it appears that some other (Microsoft?) solution is changing this option set ... Very strange...

    Hello KoJaPD,

I checked the Relationship Type (CustomerTypeCode) in my environment with 2023 Release Wave 2 enabled and Dataverse Version 9.2.24013.00186 for Dynamics 365 CE and do not have changes in this table-specific choice what means that the order is set as in your documentation (it looks like default):

Therefore, I can confirm that with the mentioned Versions and the Versions below there are no changes from Microsoft to these choice. It seems that someone changed the choice in your environment at first glance.
I will do the new release wave 2024/1 by time and will let you know if there are changes, but as of your posting date I don't think that it is related to an Microsoft update.

    Rg,

    Alexander

*Due to the complex and different possibilities of deploying Dynamics 365 I highly recommend not to setup the application without some expert/partner or support. (For more information contact me under anassl@inno-solutions.info or visit www.inno-solutions.de)

    Hi Leah,

You must be kidding... this means that everybody using this optionlist, now suddenly has their "Investors" (original value 4) now labeled as "Influencers" (new label for value 4)... and all "Resellers" are now shown as "Prospects"... and so on... unbelievable...

How on earth does Microsoft comes away with changing the labels of existing values?!?

If this is the case, than all D365 users around the world will have this issue???

This leaves us with a completely worhtless application!!!!

    Best regards

    Hi KoJaPD,
Seems to be the latest design, maybe the docs are not synchronised with the changes.
In my environment, all the OOB options for that column are the same as yours:
    For the choice column:
Choices are key/value pairs contain items with an integer value and a label. The integer value is stored in the column in the row and the label is stored in metadata.
Because the value didn't change in this column, just the corresponding label value, which led to your confusion.
Perhaps you need to do some customization yourself so that the label you need corresponds to the previous value.
I hope you can mark my answer verified if it is helpful! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
    Regards,
    Leah
