Send emails on export job status in data management framework

Hello All,

I have a couple of recurring export jobs setup through data projects (using DMF) in D365 for finance and operations.

I need an email to be sent with the status of the export job (success/failure) whenever the export job executes.

Is there a way to do this?

    Email alerts would be one solution here, but they aren't working yet in D365FO. However this feature will be available in future updates: docs.microsoft.com/.../alerts-overview

    Another option is to read the status of the data job via OData, and send the result in email. Most likely you can do it easily with Microsoft Flow. If your data job executes daily at 20:00, just create a flow that executes at 21 and reads all data job statuses from the last 24 hours. I have created this kind of solution in the past, and I'm sure there was a data entity for it. But looking at my 7.3 and 8.0 dev environments, I don't see such entity anymore. Anyway you would want to have a data entity for DMFDefinitionGroupExecutionHistory table (and possibly some others if you need more detailed information). You can create it yourself in almost no time.

    Another option is create a batch job in AX which will read the status of those data project and send alert email if anything is failed.

    I read that but I don't see a way to specify a filter for execution status of error or for only specific definition groups.

    Am I missing something?

    You are right, it doesn't seem to be possible to set a field criteria for alert in Integration activity table.
