GL account number lenght varies

Customers current chart of account consists of GL accounts varying from xx-xxxxx digits. With integrations to different systems, they are not willing to change this easily. What kind of problems could this cause?

Willing to change to every account being for example 6 digits.

Hi,

Nothing will happen as per my understanding, unless you have '-' in between or your defined delimiter is there in your Ledger account.

Hello Marikap,

When is comes to the system, this should not cause any troubles at all.

But when is comes to professionalism as consultants and accounting standards, your advice to the client is very much valid.

This is unconventional but technically shouldn't cause any issues. Trial balance reports will look unusual but apparently they're accustomed to it.

In Turkey it is usually much much more. No Problem. I used dots and dashes before and no.problem. But not use dash as dimension seperator. That is the only case.
