how to send emails from ax 2012 through SMTP?

i need to send all alerts to the mail ids provided in the smtp.

the following error is thrown on this code community.dynamics.com/.../sending-email-using-x-code-dynamics-ax-2012

error ::

Method 'send' in COM object of class 'CDO.Message' returned error code 0x80040213 (<unknown>) which means: The transport failed to connect to the server.

Fix your SMTP settings, or firewall access for the communication ports on your mail server.

Here is a Microsoft blog article which assists with troubleshooting SMTP issues:

If you are not using your own Exchange server or Office365 mail server but a public provider, additional setup might be required for those such as enabling TLS communication channels, installing certificates, etc. You may use Google search to find it for your specific case.
