Resources available from other legal entity in project scheduling

Please explain the setup required for viewing project resources from other legal entity  when trying to fullfil resource for a project team.

Scenario:

In a legal entity eg. USSI I have created a project. Also added team requirement for a role (PM created).

I have created employee in USSI and another employee in USMF.

In PMA parameters in both companies there is a Yes for "Enable project scheduling and timesheet".

When at the project I want to fullfil resource with person from USMF I can't see this person (he is available in USMF for local projects).

I've tried easing up for calendar requirements on the project as well as set that the search shall not look specific to role.

Strangely I can see the USSI employee in USMF...

What can I be missing in USSI so I can add resources from USMF to a project team?

Regarding your "Strangely I can see the USSI employee in USMF" comment.  The employees table is a global table, not LE specific when you first browse the list page at Human Resources -> Common -> Workers -> Employees.  Once you drill into an employee record, you'll notice a yellow bar show up saying "The current company is USSI"  if you are in LE USMF.

    I believe you're talking about AX2012 functionality?

As I understand in AX7, workers are global/shared - and yes needs to be assigned per company (as in AX2012), but in each legal entity you only see "LE specific employees".

My issue is to get project resource visibility to work in AX7.

Anyway the comment on "Strangely I can see the..." is related to identifying resources to a project team from different legal entities where the this function/screen works differently for me depending on which LE I'm in (not the mastercard as such on workers/employees) :-).

    Hi Daxer.

To be able to choose the employee in the project area the employee has to be a resource in the "resources list" of the project module. Please check the "project " - "project setup" form of the employee. You have to fill this screen. Out of this AX will create a resource automatically.

    best regards

    Hi Christoph

Yes I understand this. Employee NN1 is already available in USMF as a project resource. How to make NN1 available in USSI or other LE?

E.g. are resource parameters in Org. adm (or other module) influencing in USSI?

NB: Creating  a NN2 in USSI makes this person available in USMF.

    Thanks

    Hi Daxer.

Regarding to the current information out of the Dynamics 365 roadmap (please check https://roadmap.dynamics.com/#application=049f7cf6-2992-e611-80dc-c4346bac0910#area=2eb94115-2d92-e611-80dc-c4346bac0910) there will be a feature available in the spring release so support your demand.

A worker may have employment in multiple legal entities at the same time. This feature will allow the same worker to be a project resource in multiple legal entities at the same time. Currently, a worker can only be mapped to a single project resource.

This feature is not addressing the availability of scheduling in another LE.  This handles a very special scenario where a worker is employed in multiple LEs and needs to be priced based on the LE for which they are currently working.

Is the project setup defined to use Project/Resource validation as this will affect what is shown on lookups?

Validation is set to "None" in both USSI and USMF so no limits. However in USFM I only see project resources (PMA/Project resources/Resources list from within USMF whereas in USSI in the Resources list I see USSI project resources as well as other project resources from e.g. USMF.

How to enable in USMF to see project resources from e.g. USSI and GBSI?

(seems not to relate to Project IC parameters or GL intercompany setup).

    Hallo Daxer

    please check this link:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../project-resourcing

    excerpt:

When you set up a worker as an intercompany resource, you must complete the setup in the lending company and the borrowing company.

    In the lending company:

1.In Finance and Operations, verify that the lending company is selected, and then complete the procedure above, "Set up a worker as a project resource."

2.Go to General ledger **> **Posting setup **> **Intercompany accounting. Click New.

3.In the Legal entity ID **field, select the lending company. Fill in the remaining fields as appropriate, and then click **Save.

4.Go the Project management and accounting **> **Setup **> **Prices ** > **Transfer price.** **

5.On the Transfer price **form, click **New, and in the **Borrowing legal entity **field, select the appropriate company.

6.If you want to only loan the borrowing company the resource that you created at the beginning of this section, in the Resource field, select the name of the resource that you created. If you want to make all resources in the company available to the borrowing company, leave the **Resource **field blank.

7.Go to Project management and accounting **> **Setup **> **Project management and accounting parameters, and on the Intercompany **tab, set the **Enable intercompany resource scheduling and timesheets **field to **Yes.

    In the borrowing company:

1.Go to Project management and accounting > Project resources > Resources list.

2.In the search filter, enter the name of the resource that you created in the previous procedure for the lending company to verify that the name is included in the resource list for the borrowing company.

i got it up and running for our Company following that

what you have to additionally take care of is the creation of a procurement hierarchie and node (for the Project category that is then attached to the procurement category)- which is then selected in the intercompany Settings in the Project Parameters

    regards

    Tom
