"License Plate must be specified for this location." error when firming a planned purchase order.

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello All,

When trying to firm a planned purchase order, I receive an error stating that a "License plate must be specified for this location." Any ideas why this error would be thrown when firming the PO?The location that is specified on the PO is License Plate controlled but I don't understand how that would be the issue before we've even confirmed the Purchase Order.

Thanks in advance!

Stephen

    Hi Guy,

I think that's where the disconnect is - I have a Location with Min/Max levels set up for the item, so when the planned PO is created via Master Planning, that location is defaulted on the planned order. When firming the PO, however, I think it's erroring out because, as you said above, you can't default a location on an actual PO when using WMS.

I'm wondering if my Warehouse configuration is causing this - The business need is for these warehouses to only have a single location, which functions as the receipt, issue, and storage location for any inventory in that warehouse. (The customer is a public transportation authority and the warehouses in this scenario are the individual ticket windows that fares are sold from.)

    Hi Stephen,

I don't understand how the action of Firming a Purchase order can create a Purchase order on which a License plate controlled Location is set.

I know it's possible to default a location on to a PO Line, but it is not possible to do that if Warehouse management functionality is enabled..... and the only way to configure License plate controlled locations is by using Warehouse management functionality.

So what's going on here? Is the Warehouse 'warehouse management enabled' and the Item is not?
