NAV 2009 Locking Issues

Posted on by 140

Hi

My problem is related to locks in navision 2009, at our place there is a problem of locking occurence frequently as there are many users doing transactions at a time. How can i minimize lock occurence in Nav as well as in SQL, and which is the best solution of doing it by nav or SQL.

Please suggest.

Regards

Snehpreet Kaur

    Hi,

if the aforementioned tweaks are not enough, I would recommend to get some professional help like SQLPerform. I've worked with them and it was a great success. There are also AddOns out there (an american partner, but can't recall the name) that change the posting process to enable more concurrent processing... there are ways to do it, but you would need some structural changes in NAV.

    with best regards

    Jens

    RE: NAV 2009 Locking Issues

    hi,

    my suggestions:

follow"Jörg Stryk" tips about locking issues (is a GURU)

    dynamicsuser.net/.../solving-blocking-issues-practical-examples.aspx

my suggestions about NAV 2009 locking:

change to "REPETEABLE READ" isolation level (like NAV 2013 standard isolation level), no phantom reads issues detected as today.

look at my post "Using "REPETEABLE READ" isolation level witn NAV"

    blogs.dotnethell.it/.../Using-REPETEABLE-READ-isolation-level-witn-NAV__18819.aspx

    change using:

    update [$ndo$dbproperty] set diagnostics = diagnostics | 4194304

    Move to NAV 2013\2015

    Hi Snehpreet,

Is it same as this post community.dynamics.com/.../145265.aspx

First check your server specs are properly there.
    download.microsoft.com/.../NAV2009_SystemRequirements.doc

Then check SQL DB has any problem.

Then check your Costing method. If it was set to average and check "Automatic Cost Posting" and "Automatic Cost Adjustment" on Inventory Setup.
If those were set to yes, remove the check mark and let user run Post Inventory Cost to G/L report at the day end when the server is not busy.
