I don't agree with that you can't use HTTP for service to service communication. What do you mean by it?
The most likely reason for choosing HTTP is that you need communication outside your network and/or interoperability (non-WCF clients). NetTcp can be very efficient, though, if you can use it.

Thanks a lot Martin and Sukrut for sharing the details. I understood that one difference is Type of Transport i.e HTTPS/TCP. Other point is when it is service to service communication we need to use NetTcp Adapter. Could you please correct me and request you to help me in knowing if they are any other parameters which we need to consider when deciding the Type of Adapter.

Not sure if you mean the WCF part or something in the integration in AX.
