No data after Environment copy

I've just done an environment copy of my dev to live environments. The copy completed but there is not data showing in my live environment.

I did a restore and the data came back, and have redone the copy and its the same thing has happened.

What would cause the app to disconnect from the database data?

Has anyone seen this before? Could it be background processing?

Help!!

I have the same question (0)

Just to confirm it was only 'schema and config copy', not an everything copy

    Hi,

You need to use "Copy over everything" option.

An Everything copy includes all application data, users, and customizations, and schemas from the source environment and is suitable for:

    • User acceptance testing
    • Upgrade testing
    • Preview in production (TAP/EA)
    • Training

    Please refer to docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/copy-environment#copy-over-everything

    Thanks for your reply.

I have test data in dev and live data in live. and don't want to copy dev data over live data.

Is what you're saying you copy everything and it will retain the live data but copy the dev schema and config?

An environment copy will not allow you to keep the data of your production environment. You will lose your data.

You need to import your customizations to your live environnement. This is possible by using a solution.

    Plrase refer to:

I cant do it using solutions as the live environment is managed and I want to copy the identical dev environment which is unmanaged in order to make the live environment unmanaged to I can delete some fields.

I have too many solution layers to do it via solutions so need to do via a copy, but retain the live data.

This is a huge shortcoming if I cannot copy just the schema and config and retain the live data.

I'm going to have have a chat with Microsoft

    Hi Jim,

Yes it's good to have a chat with Microsoft because we can move a full copy with data from one environment to another else only the Customisation part, there is no other options like to move only data part.

    Hi Ramprakash

Do you think Microsoft might be able to do this for me?
