Hi all,

now at the end of the year we need to change the copyright of all our marketing emails. Right now at the bottom of every marketing email we have the text "(c) 2021 COMPANY Name". I want to avoid to change the copyright in all e-mails every year, so I thought about creating a content block which I could add into every marketing e-mail and when I change e.g. the year in the content block globally, every mail where the content block is implemented is updatet automatically.

But according to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/content-blocks this approach doesn't work. Has anyone an idea how I can fix this problem? It will take me a lot of time to change the copyright in every marketing email every year..

Hi,

If the marketing emails are created after the content block is modified, the copyright can be shown as modified.

So I'm not sure what effect you mean by doesn't work that cannot be achieved.

If you'd like to change it automatically (without modifying the content block), it cannot be done.

my aim is, that every time I modify the content block it is also updated in the marketing mails which use this content blocl. Is this possible?

Hi Tanja,

No, it is not possible.

Since once the content block is inserted into the email, their HTML will be fused together.

The content block will not automatically update unless you remove it from the Email and re-add it after modifying it.

You can consider to create a new entity and make one of the field to record the current year.

So that you can use the static content in Marketing Email to show the value of the field.

Hi Tanja,

Please follow the next steps:

1. Create a new entity. e.g. Copyright.

2. Create a field in it.

3. Add the field into a form of the entity in order to edit it.

4. Remember to tick the "Change Tracking" option for the entity.

5. Add the entity into the Marketing app with App Designer and publish the app.

6. Navigate to Settings > Data Management > Dataset Configuration and tick the entity. Then Publish Changes.

7. Create a new record which contains the year you need. Here, of course, you can use the JavaScript to get the current year instead of filling it manually.

8. Create a marketing email and add a text element.

9. Click the Personalization and add the static content.

10. Edit the format of the text field as you need.

11. After you change the value of the record, the content in the email will change automatically.
