Hi,
I posted a write down of an asset due to rebate provided by the vendor using FA G/L Journal. The asset was credited and I used the GL code where
the cash was posted for "Insert FA Bal. Account". I checked both the GL and FA Book Value, they're both correct but when I run "Calculate Depreciation", depreciation for this asset didn't calculate. Am I missing another JE? I'm using NAV 2018. Can you please help? Thank you!!
I finally figured out the reason why depreciation was not calculating for the asset that was written down due to rebate received. In FA Posting Type Setup, I disabled Include in Depr. Calculation, enabled Part of Depreciable Basis and enabled Depreciation Type for FA Posting Type "Write-Down". I ran depreciation for one month as if the life of the asset is only one month. Depreciation calculated was limited to the net book value of the asset.
I apologize for the delay, I'm still trying to figure out how to upload to the file to this thread.
Would you be able to share screenshot of your FA card and FA ledger entries ?
FA Posting Date is 4/9/19. Depreciation Starting Date is 4/9/19. Write down JE for the rebate was posted on 4/26/19. All other assets added after this showed calculated depreciation. NAV skipped the calculation for this asset.
Check the last acquisition and depreciation date for that FA. Not the FA Setup.
I didn't use "Force Days". Depreciation book card looks the same except for the check mark in "Use Rounding in Periodic Depr" and "Allow Changes in Depr. Fields". Our FA posting date is 4/30/19 because that's our GL close.
How does the Depreciation Books compare for this FA compared to the others? Did you use any "Force Days" since this is not a full period for this FA (4/9/2019 - 4/30/2019)?
Hi Alfredo,
The last depreciation posted was from 3/29/19 for all other assets. This is a new asset acquired last 4/9/19. The rebate was received the same month. Since the fixed asset was already posted in the FA ledger, I posted a write down JE for the rebate. I ran "Calculate Depreciation" for April 2019. It showed depreciation for all other assets except for this particular asset. Weird. This is the first time I had to write down an asset. Please help! Thanks!!
As Teddy mentioned above, when was the last time you ran a "Calculate Depreciation" for this asset? Look at the FA Ledger Entries and make sure you haven't already posted a depreciation for the same period:
Hi Teddy,
The FA Setup "Allow FA Posting To" is 06/28/19. I'm still working on April. This didn't answer the question.
