Access Denied - CRM Portal Error

Posted on by 365

I have been trying to learn portals this weekend and have become stuck.

I get access is denied to a new web page. The web page is associated with an entity list. The web page also has a restrict read to authenticated users access control record associated to it.

Am I missing something here? Can anyone suggest what is causing the access is denied?

Let's find the root cause by check following points:

    • Deassociate webpage access control rule from your webpage and then try. if it works then issue is in webpage access control rule.
    • Uncheck Entity Permission option on Entity List. And still, the issue is there then it is not related to Entity Permission.
    • Check the Entity Permission option on Entity List and getting the issue, then it is related to Entity Permission for sure. In this case, make sure you are creating entity permission to all the lookup field's entities as well along with Entity form Entity. Also, do not forget to associate the 'Authenticated' Web roles with all your required Entity Permissions.
    • This is also likely caused by two or more Web Page records in Dynamics 365 sharing the same "Partial URL". For Example - You have two webpages let say: Contact Us and Support and both are having same partial URl - contact-us.

Thanks Mahender, the authenticated users web role is associated to the web page via the Web Page Access Control.

To preempt another question you may have, yes I have logged into the portal.

I am assuming you have logged into the portal?  If you are not logged in, then you won't be able to view the page because the portal doesn't see you as a user as part of the authenticated users.

Or do you see the page but the entity list is giving the error?  If so you will need to configure entity permissions for the entity that is associated with the entity list.

    Hi,

It seems you are missing appropriate web roles for the entity for which you are trying to access data, Can you share details about the entity list you are trying to access and what web roles you have currently.
