Purchase Order Generator

Good afternoon,

I do the purchasing for my company and I was just curious if this is an option with the latest version of GP.

I am curious, if I can change replenishment level to go based off item usage?

So instead of inputting our own quantities, can I have GP look at the monthly history usage of items, find the median and suggest what to order based off history usage and a par level I set?

Is this possible?

That’s a great question. The functionality around how the Purchase Order Generator has not changed between 2016 and our latest and greatest version (18.4.1384).

The Purchase Order Generator still suggests based on the available quantity (the calculation for this depends on what you have marked in the PO Generator Item Maintenance window), and there has not been anything added to the product to calculate an average/median based on past usage.

This would be a good product suggestion!

You can enter a product suggestion for this functionality here:

    I hope this helps!

Since that kind of functionality doesn't exist in GP yet (great product suggestion!), you could do this with some kind of SQL script and automation.

In the Item Resource Planning Maintenance screen, the Order Point Quantity and Safety Stock fields would store everything needed for PO Generator. The automation could fill in the Order Point Quantity field from the sales history results of the SQL query + any safety stock amount entered in the Safety Stock field (Par level).
