This is clearly a problem caused by customization. Hopefully, the following information can give you some hints.

    Hi,

Firdt make sure that customization of workflow is completed properly. You can refer to the link provided by YUN ZHU for this.

Apart from this make sure that in the approval workflow when you create it manually you need to define all the events and response proprrly with multiple actions if needed. If therr is any gap in them it will not go to next step and workflow will stop.

You can check some standard workflow for reference of workflow eventd and response setup.

    Regards,
    Dhiren.

    Hello,

You don’t manually set Next Workflow Step ID; Business Central fills it automatically only when the workflow is created/saved through the workflow designer or the workflow framework codeunits. If workflow steps were inserted manually (table edits, config package, or custom inserts), BC won’t link the steps, so Next Workflow Step ID stays 0 and the workflow ends after the first approval, deleting the instance. Rebuild the workflow in the UI designer (or via proper workflow setup code), or rely on Approver Chain for multi-approver scenarios instead of multiple workflow steps.

Out of interest, how did you create the workflow?

If you used configuration packages to copy an existing one to then edit, this is a very tricky process to achieve successfully and could be the reason you are experiencing issues.

If you did use config packs, try recreating it manually or by using the 'Export to File' and 'Import to file' to copy workflows between companies and environments for editing.
