Sending Excel file generated by SSRS report running as batch to sftp server

Hello All,

We have a requirement under which we are developing a SSRS report to send Sales Invoice, Free text invoice, Project Invoices as an excel file. For this purpose we are using out of box functionality to run SSRS report as batch server and process data and generate excel sheet and get it available for download from Organization administration > Inquiries and reports > Print archive.

The report will be processing data on invoice date on daily basis. Client wants SSRS report excel to be uploaded at an SFTP server location as well so that it could be used by their SAP application for further processing.

Any input would be of great help as I haven't developed much using C# to utilize true .Net framework capability of D365 F&O. I have a link that I am mentioning below but don't know how they will work with SSRS report and Excel file and uploading excel file at sftp server.

Looking forward to hear from the community !!!

Thanks & Regards,

Amit Ashok Gupta.

Did you consider using Logic Apps? You could print the file to a print archieve, or send it via email, and let a Logic App to take the file and store it on an FTP server. It already has an SFTP connector, therefore you wouldn't have to develop it by yourself.

    Hello Martin,

Hearty thanks for such quick response.

We have Power Apps, as there is a integration running between D365 F&O and CRM. Also I would like to know as to how Power Apps could access Print archive in organization administration. Please do let me know if you have any useful information about it

Presently we are thinking sending file as E-Mail to recipient but as we all know E-Mail could send limited size data hence we were thinking of developing a solution such that we could send excel file directly to a sftp server location.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Amit Ashok Gupta.

My idea was using SharePoint as a print archive; Logic Apps contain a connector to SharePoint Online. Alternatively, if you're using Docentric, I believe you have more options there.

    Hi Martin,

I will try and find out if Power Apps could achieve the same. Meanwhile any other suggestions would always be welcomed.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Amit,

You could use third party DDLs(like ssh.net) to access SFTP, but it is not a good choice.

As Martin said it is recommended to use logic apps for that.

You could try Deztec SFTP Destination to have the Excel output from SSRS immediately uploaded to SFTP.

nmolinos, do you see any way how to use it with F&O? To me, it looks irrelevant to the topic of this thread.
