Unit Of measure Conversion

Hi all,

My client has given me the following points for which i don't understand.

I have shown him the basic conversion which is there in the NAV 2016.

  1. When a pick ticket is created, the pick ticket shows rolls being taken from a location and being placed back in that location as pounds then those pounds are taken and placed in the SHIP bin. The pick tickets need to reflect rolls being taken from a location and then placed in the SHIP bin as rolls.
  2. On the warehouse shipment, the UoM should be rolls with one field showing the actual number of pounds that are being sent so that it will appear on the packing list.
  3. If the weight of the roll is greater than what is estimated in the item card, when we change the pounds on the warehouse shipment there is an error that the “Quantity to ship must not be greater than … in Warehouse Shipment Line”. Since our rolls vary in weight, it is very unlikely that the weight will be exactly the same as estimated in the item card.
  4. Same goes for when the weight is less than what is estimated in the item card. There is an error message saying that the “Qty (Base) must be equal to … in the Warehouse Shipment Line”.
  5. Following the approach also causes the quantity on hand in the item card to show decimals or fractions of a roll. The quantity on hand needs to consistently stay an integer.
  6. Lastly, the Item Availability on the Sales Order form shows pounds instead of rolls.

it's not clear what you are asking.

please describe your (first) question with an example.

if you have more questions, please one after the other.

    Hi Santosh,

I would suggest you to break down the problem into simple steps and try to figure out how it can be implemented using NAV. You Might be looking into these long sentences and getting confused.

Another approach could be, use an Example of Item and see how the process is to be applies. These process looks simple, mostly Packing, Transfer, Assigning Lot No., Shipment process are involved.

Try to Visualize it with real example. You can always draw a diagram and understand.

    Hi Sha.

The client is buying the items in rolls and in the conversion he has Added pounds and mentioned as 1Roll= 00.2512 Lb.

he has an issue like when he do the Pick at that time they found that the weight of the Roll vary from the one which they have mentioned in the item card .

now need a solution to handle the excess and the lower weight .

in the pick we cant change the qty conversion rite

    the Qtu should be equal.

    Hie Santosh,

This is not the standard process, but in general life process can be similar to what you have described. It can be resolved using Technical Side as well as using functional adjustments.

    Logic1:

If the Item always changes then why don't you use Assembly Order. In assembly order different items are assembled and the product is totally different order here you can play with the SCRAP %age as well. Basically your item is changing over time because of the processing that are carried on the item...

    Logic2:

Let say you were selling 10 items and in the order it is 11 then you can still allow the Customer to take that 11 item. You just need to make sure the customer's is under limit. But even if the limit of customer is met you an do some modifications like disabling the limit message for certain %age of Goods for certain Customer. Just deliver how much quantity is shown in the Warehouse document.

Try to talk to the functional guy and ask how they want. You can always customize the NAV according to the need... If you reach any conclusion and want technical help then also you can contact us.

I found a link that gives a good explanation to a problem similar to yours.... Go through it..
