Financial Dimension Set Security

I am a System Admin for AX but was bumped down to an accountant role to try to figure this out. When I am an admin, I can create a new Financial Dimension Set by moving over available financial dimensions to selected financial dimensions. Under this accountant role, the capability to move from available to selected has been taken away when I try to create a new Financial Dimension Set. Do you know what I have to do to let that Accountant role have access to move those selected financial dimensions?

    Hi,

The Accountant role does not allow to change the setup sections in the GL menu by default. It has only permissions to view the settings.

The accounting supervisor and accounting manager do have the duty to add and change the setup.

So test with one of these roles. If the accountant also needs to have this privilege, you can add the duty 'Enable general ledger process' or the privilege 'Maintain financial statement setup' on the accountant role. Note that the duty enables maintaining all setup of the General ledger menu.

Hm, I tried these suggestions out and it looks like the accountant role already has these permissions.  Additionally, when I assign myself to the role of Accounting Manager, I still don't have the ability to add/change a Financial Dimension Sets.  Anything else I should try?  Thanks for the help!

    Hi,

I have checked my findings in AX 2012 R3. Which exact version and possible CU of AX 2012 are you using ?

I am actually using R2 on my PC.  This may be the difference?

Also, I am in the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) version if that makes any difference.

    Hi,

I checked the standard roles for AX 2012 R2 in CU7 and here it is the same as mentioned above. Can perform the next steps and provide details?

    - Open the development workspace (Ctrl+D) as a system admininstrator

    - Navigate to Menu items

    - Open the subnodes

    - Open the node Display

    - Locate the menu item DimensionFocusTable (this is the menu item used for the Dimension sets.

    - Right click on the menu item and choose Add-Ins > Security tools > View related security roles.

A form will be displayed telling you which roles do have the duties, privileges and the access level.

Can you tell me the Entry point access for the Accountant and Accounting manager role?

The entry point access says "View" for both roles.

    Hi,

Then there might be a security object changed in your environment. Is there another role with full access rights? Then you might test with this role.

Can you trace the changes done in the security on roles, duties and privileges?

This should be the only role with full access rights.  We haven't started tracing changes done.  Would that help in finding a solution?

    Hi,

You can try to add the duty 'Enable general ledger process' or the privilege 'Maintain financial statement setup' to one of the roles, but probably the duty and/or the privilage are changed because you stated there are no roles having full rights.

So indeed it will be the best start to find changed security objects.
