Creating Multiple Production Orders from a single Sales Order

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi,

Is it possible to create multiple Production Orders from a single Sales Order in NAV? Or are there ways to achieve same?

The idea is that a customer could place a large sales order for some product A, say 10K quantity.

So, the business owner will have to produce the product in smaller volumes considering stocks availability and production line capacity, etc.

Smaller volumes means breaking down the large sales order qty to smaller production orders say 5K, 3K, and 2K qty's. So individual orders can then be planned and executed separately.

Thanks.

    Thanks Suresh,

Can you please give some insight why breaking down sales to smaller production orders is not possible? I think many users need that function.

Just split the line on your sales order into 3 different lines with quantiy 5k, 3k and 2k and when you create production order choose order type as Item Order, it should create three different production orders.
