Dynamics NAV - Online Version availability and Future Plan?

Hi Dynamics NAV Team,

I am working on an Integration project for which I need to do analysis on the availablity of On-Premise and Online version for Dynamics NAV 2016.

From the documentation it looks like only On-Premise application is available for Dynamics NAV. Online version is not yet available. Following are the couple of queries:

a) Could you please confirm this?

b) Is there any plan to develop Online version as well in the near future?

Regards,

Rajinder Singh

    Hi,

Future plan development at the moment only Microsoft can answer the questions but at the moment NAV provides Web client with windows client for accessibility of data

Check for Universal App for Navision

There are three parts of this story:

    1. Where the physical solution will be located (you install your own copy of database and technically have full access to developments and customizations):

a). on-premise, hosted on your local server

b). private cloud, as if you would put your own server to some datacenter, but still have access to that as your own physical server

c). public cloud, e.g. in Azure, where you would basically rent some computing space and install NAV pretty much the same as in both previous options

    2. What types of licenses would you use:

a). perpetual licenses, when you will make one-time immediate license purchase and use it as you want

b). subscription licenses, when you will "rent" the license, by paying much smaller amounts monthly fee for the quantity of users, needed this month

    3. Dynamics365, which is a sort of combination of 1c and 2b, but you would use is as a sort of "out-of-the-box" solution, without access to major developments and customization, at least the way that everybody got used to (so, it is pretty much a SAAS model).

I think Mr. Alexander already explained your option in detail. If you are compairing Madeira or Dynamics 365 with the Earlier versions their will be difference, limitations between them in capabilities and features.

    Hi Rajender,

It depends on perspective. If you want to access Dynamics NAV over AZURE then it can accessed online and you do not need to maintain the server. Good thing here is you will have full customization authority.

If you are talking about Project Madeira => Dynamics 365 then it is not exactly Dynamics NAV, it has most of the features of NAV and some of the  GP features are included. Here you cannot customize anything you need to attach addons similar to what you do with Office 365.

Online means? managed Services or Dynamics 365?

if you are a partner then check my link posted above for Managed services.

if you are customer then find a partner who has deployed their solution in Managed services.
