Licensing: Team Members & Field Service Mobile Application

Hi,

My company is considering moving from Dynamics GP to Dynamics 365 Enterprise for Operations, Sales, and Field Service. We have about 150 field service technicians and we are hoping to assign them Team Member licenses. Based on the Dynamics 365 licensing guide, the only Field Service feature that we would like to make available to these users that is not part of the Team Member license is the Field Service Mobile Application.

This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I can't justify spending an extra $90/month per user for this one feature, and I'm sure we're not the only organization that would have a similar concern. Am I misunderstanding the licensing model for the Mobile App?

Thanks,

-Jimmy.

    Hi,

Have you found any workaround for this? You are right, asking such a huge license for just an app is not fair at all.\

    Thanks,

    Saurabh

    Hi Jimmy,

It's a great App and highly configurable.

I have customers with it in production. It's the Dynamics Field Service App with the truck picture. ThE App from Resco is worth about $55 from memory.

    Cheers,

    Antony

RE: Licensing: Team Members & Field Service Mobile Application

The question I posted is specific to the Field Service mobile app. According to the licensing guide, Team Member license holders do not have access to the Field Service Mobile App. For an app that I would rate 2/5 stars on the App Store to cost me an extra $90/user/month is completely unjustified. I regret our decision to implement Dynamics Field Service and we will consider alternative options if the licensing model and quality of mobile app do not improve.

Users would have read-only access to Field Service entities using the Enterprise Team Member license. So reporting is possible with a Team member license and no access to App.

    Hi,

You can assign team member license for fields service. who ever in field service. You can see full license guide in this pdf.

    Thanks,

    Sandeep

I have brought this up through various channels and the people that count don't see a particular issue with it despite some large customers going to other providers.

    Go figure!

We have more than 100 field service technicians. I cannot justify paying that much per head just to use a mobile app that is not worth 1/10th of that amount. It is built using some cross platform framework and hardly uses any platform specific technologies. It costs more than Office 365!

Microsoft’s dependence on RESCO for this app is unacceptable when other parts of the company can produce decent mobile apps at decent prices. As a former Microsoft employee I continue to be thoroughly disappointed with the quality of products that comes out of the Dynamics division. I can’t think of one decent mobile app they have built. Can you?

Yes. It is a $95 per head license. If you think about it, the issue is the low pricing on the Team Member in contrast. Competitively the price is normal to other products...

How many field service operatives are you?
