AX 2012: How can I automatically carry over the business unit dimension that is included on a posting in my sales account over to the corresponding trade accounts receivable account? Right now business unit is not included in the account structure, but when I add it, I don't know how to automatically carry over the business unit value being populated on the sales transaction. My client wants to run an open receivable aging report by business unit, but since that value isn't on the receivable posting, I can't. How do I automatically add the BU to the receivable posting? Aside from configuration, my client will not want to intervene in this process.

Hi Howard,

As you say, you can add the business unit dimension in an account structure and link it to the ledger. Then this dimension is available as dimension is postings, but also as default dimension on customers. Posted transactions will not be updated when you enable this dimension.

If each customer is linked to only one business unit, you can also use another field on the customer master; e.g. Classification group.
