Scanning Barcodes on Mobile not bringing up Customer Assets

Posted on by 5

On the Field Service Mobile app we cant figure out why when scanning a barcode on an asset, it will not bring up the Customer Asset on the phone. We tested it on barcodes that are in our Dynamics system on Customer Assets. We have it so barcodes are on Customer Assets in Dynamics and followed the Microsoft page about Scanning Assets (link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/field-service/mobile-power-app-system-barcode-scanning) but have had no success. When the phone scans the barcode it just has no results found. Help please

    Hi.

As Scott said, you have to enable it first.

I assume you set up search as explained in the document?

    Step 3: Enable search

By default, Dynamics 365 Field Service is configured to search against account, contact, user, and activity. You can customize search to include additional record types, such as customer assets and products. Expanding search parameters can help technicians search, find by keyword, and scan to search by barcode, UPC, or QR code.

Enable the record type your barcode is part of for relevance search. In our example, we use the customer asset record type). For more information, see how to set up relevance search.

Add the barcode-enabled field to the record type's quick find view

    Save and publish changes.
