Hi all you Wise people.

I have a question for you.
I have client that want us to store there items without us owning it, and do manufacturing and repacking, the items.
We have looked at the new WOM feature, but that doesn't support production orders, and we have find some minor bugs as well.

Any one knows a good solution on how we can help this client without taking the ownership of the items, when doing the manufacturing.
I have the same question (0)

You might need to develop a custom solution to handle this specific requirement. This could involve creating custom entities, workflows, and scripts to manage the inventory and manufacturing process without taking ownership.

What should the ERP system do that would satisfy the 'not taking ownership' of the items part?

@Guy Terry Maybe it's some kind of consignment setup? We did something similar at a place I worked.
I don't know how you can remanufacture something without taking ownership at some point.

    @Guy Terry.
We should act as a simple 3PL warehouse and Consignment using the new WOM feature in D365, but it falls short in production orders and repacking functionalities.
And the standard consignment solutions in D365 doesn't support advanced warehouse functionalities.
And the WOM doesn't support Consignment or Production yet.

So in my mind, the ERP system can do two things in relation to 'not taking ownership' of the items.

    1. Items which are held in stock can be identified as belonging to your customer.
    2. The value of your customer's items which are held in stock do not appear in your inventory accounts (financial).

Is this what you had in mind?

Is it the case that you can have an item which came from a vendor or from your customer, or is it the case that the item numbers that come from your customer only come from your customer?

Do you need or will your customer's items have a value (cost) in F&O. Or will you bring them in at zero cost?

What i have as an requirements are as follows

    1. Requirement
We have a vendor(s) we want to store their products as a consignment vendor, we will first take ownership when items are consumed by us. - but due to legal requirements we need tracking down to batch and licenseplate (Advanced warehousing) which Standard consignment in D365F&O doesn't support. So we would use Warehouse management only mode for that.

    2. Requirement from the CEO
We need to repack the vendors items to smaller sizes with different leaflets etc, so the client can distributed their items to their markets. - In this scenario we would require BOM and productions orders not owning the items.
Because of specialized vendors that doesn't have the repacking capabilities in that country or geographical area.
Again we want to use the Warehouse management only mode, but it doesn't support production orders.

    3. Requirement
Provide a solution to some vendors/manufactures a combination of the 2 above mentioned requirement.
