Business Analyzer KPI's not appearing on one computer

I was demonstrating Business Analyzer for a client and of course I pick a workstation where the KPI'S will not appear. They do not appear for any users. These same users can go to any other computer and they are there. This is a W10 workstation. What I check? They are using Chrome on this workstation.

    Hello Richard,

If you are referring to Business Analyzer within GP (and not the old app), then it is fully reliant on SSRS to pull up the reports.

This also brings up the issue of where you are trying to show the reports. Are you showing them on the homepage, or some other page within GP, or within the Browser? If it is directly in the browser then try Edge/IE.

Past that, what happens if you go directly to the SSRS sites in the browser? You can just grab the links within the Reporting Tools Setup window and see if you can get to those locations.

If these don't display then hopefully they give you a usable error (one of the classic 400 series errors like 404). If you need more assistance then it may be worth posting in the SSRS forums as they may be better able to help.

    Thanks!

    HI Richard,

I was going to provide a similar answer to Justin... Business Analyzer's KPI are all managed within SSRS, so make sure user security (windows) is granted properly to that user in SSRS.

This one domain user is mapped in SQL to all the databases. DYNGRP is selected on each one. The odd this here is when I opened the rdl for one of the reports it references a datasource that does not exist in SSRS. So if that were the problem why does BA work for anyone? She cannot run the report directly in here browser which is how I discovered the real error.

    Richard,

I guess you've gone already thru this post:

    community.dynamics.com/.../business-analyzer-installation-and-configuration

Could this be a certficate issue ?

I'm a little curious, because the .RDL report file might contain and point to a data source, but that's not the one that is actually used once the report is uploaded to the SSRS server.. the one that is used is the one that is defined in the security & connection properties of the report.

The SSRS report can be created / designed anywhere with Visual Studio tools and then exported / saved / uploaded to an active SSRS web site, you just have to make sure it's linked to a valid source to pull data.

Report security is another topic in itself to access it.

There is no SSL certificate here simply a W2019 server not an Azure server. I just installed this on the server and I can see the KPI's just like I did before before installing. Installing the CompanionApplicationServer never ask for any server information. Does it now require setup?

I agree the information is old and was valid for GP 2015 and prior.. so maybe that has massively changed and no longer has the companion app deployed..

You mention a Windows 2019 server.. is the SQL server 2019 too ?

    Yes, SQL 2019 on a W2019 server.

    Hi Richard and Beat,

Overall, I would stay as far away from the companion app as you can.

The "Business Analyzer" SSRS reports are just the canned SSRS reports you can deploy out of the Reporting Tools Setup window.

Richard, this is only happening from one workstation, correct? I wonder if there is some odd issue with the workstation. My first reaction is some odd domain issue that would probably be fixed by taking the workstation off the domain, then back on it.

    Thanks!

    I agree,

at this point this seems to be an authentication  / permission issue with the computer or user.

Can the user in general browse the SSRS report manager site ?

    i.e. : http://yourSQLserver/Reports

OK, this makes no sense. Making her a SQL sysadmin solves the problem.  I had granted her the DYNGRP role on all GP databases. What other security settings would she need?
