Reordering Policy change

Posted on by 329

Hello,

Reordering Policy was changed from "Fixed Reorder Qty" to "Maximum Qty". After this change was made and when Calculate Regenerative Plan was run with MRP, the system didn't include inventory in planning. From Help we can read that with this type of change, planning calculations may disregard planning parameters. Has anyone come up with a work-around how this can be fixed on existing item?

We want to continue using the same item so re-creating it is not an option. We also tried removing all inventory and added it back to see if it makes a difference but it didn't work. If there are steps available how we can get planning to work in this case, that would be very helpful.

Thank you!

    RE: Reordering Policy change

We run more tests and decided to change some of the parameters. When we leave the values as described above, MRP doesn't calculate correctly. But when we change parameters to:

    Safety stock=2000

    Reorder point=2000

    Maximum Inventory=4000

    Order multiple=1000

the system doesn't suggest overstock anymore and inventory is included. In this particular database safety stock and reorder point need to be the same. When we changed safety stock to anything else, the system start calculating wrongly. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to replicate it with Cronus.

    thank you!

One more comment to add to my posting above, I did try KB 2732824 but it didn't make any difference. Now, I researched again and I found another KB 2266182 and I'm wondering if it's worth to try and see if the results will be different.

    RE: Reordering Policy change

    Here are the details:

Reordering Policy is Maximum Qty. (this was changed from Fixed Reorder Qty)

    Include Inventory is checked

    Safety Stock Quantity is 950

    Reorder Point is 2000

    Maximum Order Quantity is 2200

    Order Multiple is 1000

    UOM is EA

    Item uses lot tracking

    Currently on hand is 1000000

When we calculate regenerative plan, the system suggests 2000 EA. When I look at the Warning it tells us:

Reorder Point: Parameter Value=2000, Untracked Qty=0

Maximum Inventory: Parameter Value=0, Untracked Qty=1050

Order Multiple: Parameter Value-1000, Untracked Qty=950

We also tried adjusting inventory and added everything back and the above is what we get now. Before adjustments, the system was suggesting three times the quantities above on three different orders. So something must have affected these calculations when adjustments were made because now, it's suggesting less than before. But still, it shouldn't suggest anything because there is enough inventory on hand and there is no demand.

Just to add, when I try the same thing with Cronus database, the system doesn't suggest any planning lines so it's working correctly.

    RE: Reordering Policy change

This sentence from help is not in connection with your problem. That means that planning calculations will disregard old values regarded with 'Fixed Reorder Qty' if they are still exist ('Reorder Quantity' field).

Is 'Include Inventory' field marked? By default, this field is noneditable, but maybe you customize that field.

Are you read detailed about 'Maximum Qty' policy? Give us some example of mistake.
