You can check this blog by Ludwig which will give you idea how to use this and the purpose of it.

Also you can search on YouTube. There are videos available too. One of them is already shared by Junaid in this thread.

    Hi Vinay,

    Many thanks for your update/feedback.

If you are new to AX and especially if you are not sure about the new features, have a look at MS docs.

There is really a comprehensive documentation available.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../introduction-to-microsoft-dynamics-ax-2012

We also have a couple of youtube channels and blogs available about this topic.

    My personal view:

If you are not forced to use advanced rules/ advanced rule structures then don't use them.

They have some disadvantages when it comes to budgeting and can make the maintenance of your accounting difficult.

Try to keep things as easy as possible with the 'normal' account structures.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Vinay,

I don't think that this is an issue because the advanced rule structure is made for a different purpose.

If you say that the department and cost center are mandatory then the advanced rule structure typically defines that additional findims must be entered based on your normal rules.

Let's assume for the moment that the advanced rule specifies that a project findim needs to be entered in combination with specific departments or cost centers.

If you say that department and cost center is mandatory then the advanced rule that adds e.g. a project findim cannot overrule that a department and cost center needs to be recorded.

This does not make sense to me.

Can you elaborate what scenario you have in mind or was this just a theoretical question?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Considering this as a dimension (say "Department" dimension), and even if you set it as 'Blank value is allowed' in advanced rule structure, then also system will not allow you to pass entry without selecting the department dimension if you set this as a Mandatory value in the account structure itself.

Kindly test this at your end and keep the Forum updated.

    Thanks Ludwig,

In the Account Structure level Main accounts range between 1000 to 2000 , department and cost center are mandatory.

in the advance rule main account 1050 blank values are allowed. What happen when i try to entry in the system for main accounts 1050 , do i need to enter dimension or don't need to enter dimension.
