AX2012 R2 - Client crashes when doing a TFS synchronize

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

I have an AOS and client installed on my laptop (Windows 8) which is connected to TFS. When doing a synchronize (TFS not DB), the client crashes and restarts which will result in updated XPOs in the local repo but nothing in AX.

The event log will record 3 errors:

Event ID 180:

"The description for Event ID 180 from source Microsoft Dynamics AX cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

Microsoft Dynamics AX Business Connector Session 4.

Options I have already tried:

- re-installation of client and AOS

- installed CU1 (still client crashes)

- installed AOS & client on Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 (still crashes)

- have deleted local repo, workspace and models and started again from scratch. Works but after some syncs client will crash again.

Does anyone experienced this? Any ideas?

Thanks,

Kevin

    Hy Kevin

had it work before, or had it never worked?

did you patch visual studo etc, to SP1?

    Hi Dick,

It works for a few syncs but after few times client will start crashing again.

    Yes, I have VS2010 with SP1 installed.

Right now I'm deleting the models, local repo and workspace and start from scratch (did this already 3 times). This will work but eventually client will crash again. I have no clue what's happening!

    Regards,

    Kevin

You could use Visual Studio or WinDbg to obtain the actual call stack from memory dump - that would tell you more about where the AccessViolationException was thrown. I would also ask Microsoft for support - they might have seen it before or help you to identify the source.

Either you have recently upgraded along with some unfinished jobs/running tasks or

you have not completed or done the initialization checklist, before starting to sync.

Also you may try to change the locale or clear any non-unicode characters from within

    app or tables...

I created a new Project in TFS, deleted all my Models, Sync'd AOT and Sync'd with the new TFS project. I haven't had any crashes since (fingers crossed!!). Thanks for all replies!

This issues occurs when trying to run the force Sync on Windows Server 2012. Installing KB2902776 will resolve this issue.

I got this .Net Runtime error in event viewer:

    Application: Ax32.exe

    Framework Version: v4.0.30319

Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

    Exception Info: System.AccessViolationException

    Stack:

      at <Module>._wWinMainCRTStartup()

Hotfix KB2902776 "Access violations when synchronizing, checking in or checking out with TFS" fixed the issue for me.
