In NAV 2016 , how do I post a credit memo to a customers account as a sales allowance on their account as a whole and not tied to a specific invoice or item line?

Agreed with Giancarlo. I would prefer to use Sales Journal.
you're welcome ;)
This is the type of answer I appreciate, very specific. Thank you!
1. Create a New Credit Memo
2. Select the Customer to receive the credit
3. Enter a G/L Account Type Line, Qty 1, and Unit Price
4. Post Credit Memo
(You can also do it using with a Sales Journal)
This will create a credit memo entry on the Customer's record, which can be applied to Invoices at any time.
You can use G/L Account instead of Item in Credit Memo.
